Escalating Tide AntiSemitism - Impact on Next Gen?

Antisemitism, the prejudice or hostility toward Jewish people, has seen a troubling resurgence. People have not witnessed such vitriol towards Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Escalating Tide Antisemitism Significant events have highlighted its escalation across ideological spectrums. The historic marker of the horrific Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, seems to have ignited an odd, but worrying alignment between those advocating Marxism and radical jihadi Islamists.

Added to that strange mix, the shifting rhetoric of prominent conservative figures like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson. Alarming global attitudes are trending toward anti-Semitism.

What poses a greater threat? Extremes on the left or extremes on the right? Is there a demonic root proliferating antisemitism and manipulating narratives to turn a new generation against Israel?

Historic Marker When Antisemitism Reignited

On our journey to Israel in April 2023, we could feel something building in the atmosphere. It was unsettling. Elsewhere across the globe, pro-Palestine protests were growing, equating Zionism with Nazism or calling for the destruction of Israel.

The Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, marked a pivotal moment, with over 1,200 Israelis killed and hundreds taken hostage. The barbaric act of terrorism shocked the world, and for a few minutes, iconic buildings showed sympathy for Israel by lighting the Israeli flag.

But support turned to protests and wild accusations, triggering a surge in antisemitic rhetoric globally—as soon as 8th October! Social media platforms, including X, saw a 165% increase in antisemitic content and conspiracy theories in the aftermath, often blaming Jews collectively for the conflict! Such narratives echo historical antisemitic tropes, and blood libels framing Jews as manipulative or inherently culpable of every ill of society.

Shockingly, counter-reactions to October 7th only intensified, with some groups defending the Hamas attack or downplaying its severity. Melbourne, Australia, a couple of hours from where we live, had seen horrific violent attacks against Jewish businesses and synagogues. Jews are understandably frightened.

The ensuing war in Gaza has resulted in multitudes of accusations based on Hamas propaganda blaming Israel for an array of war crimes, including genocide. Without seeking proof to confirm the accuracy of the accusations, criticisms of Israel too often morph into attacks on Jewish identity, further fuelling antisemitic sentiment.

June 2025: Fear of a Nuclear WW3

Global tensions and ant-Semitic conversations swelled as the conflict between Israel and Iran escalated in June 2025. The U.S., under President Trump, signalled military involvement, sparking fears and heated debates. Many criticized U.S. support for Israel, framing it as a step toward "World War III" or getting into “forever wars”. Some statements leaned on antisemitic tropes, such as accusing Jewish lobbies of undue influence or portraying Israel as a manipulative force in U.S. policy. Miraculously, the US surgical strike avoided WW3 (at least for now); it resulted in no US or Israeli casualties, and many international leaders quietly expressed gratitude, knowing a global nuclear threat had been averted, at least temporarily.

Despite a good outcome, there has been a surge in online conspiracies, with claims that Israel controlled global politics or was responsible for unrelated historical events like 9/11, the JFK assassination or that Jeffrey Epstein was supported by Israel or a Mossad agent.

Extreme Left vs. Extreme Right: A False Dichotomy

Though it was the extreme right in Germany that birthed Nazism, to date, since October 7th, it has been the extreme left that has been harassing Jews with vile slogans and threats.

The left often cloaks its antisemitism in anti-Zionism, accusing Israel of "genocide", "apartheid" or “colonialism” while ignoring realities on the ground or the complexities of the Middle East. The rhetoric prevalent in progressive circles and university protests sometimes spills into overt Jew-hatred, as seen in chants targeting Jewish students or faculty.

Sadly, there has been a rise in antisemitic narratives among conservative isolationist, populist factions, including some Christians. Conspiracy theories about Jewish influence, echoing historical tropes about "dual loyalty" or global cabals, are being embraced. The fact is the deep state, or the globalist elites operate across the globe: the U.S., Europe, Israel, Austral-Asia and most nations. Globalists want to rule, and to do so they must first undermine freedoms based on Judeo-Christian ethics.

Since October 7th, I personally have had more criticisms from Christians who have embraced Replacement Theology than any other group. Replacement Theology asserts that because Israel rejected Jesus, God rejected them. Therefore, the Church replaced Israel inheriting all the promises, while Israel suffers all the curses. This belief has seriously damaged the credibility of the church, weakened her and prevented her from fulfilling her call to ‘provoke the Jews to jealousy.’ (Romans 11:11)

Neither side, left or right, is inherently "worse" than the other—both are dangerous. The left’s antisemitism often gains traction in academic and cultural spaces, while the right finds a home in populist media with massive online followings, and even among conservative Bible believers. The convergence of these narratives, known as the "horseshoe effect," shows how extremes meet in their shared vilification of Jews, regardless of the arguments.

Alarming Shift Among “Christian” Conservatives

A particularly troubling trend is the rhetoric from self-identified Christian conservatives who claim to champion "truth" but end their discourse by blaming Israel. This shift is evident when figures like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson have moved from mainstream conservative commentary to promoting anti-Israel narratives laced with antisemitic undertones.

Candace Owens: From Defender to Accuser

Owens, once a rising star at The Daily Wire, parted ways with the outlet in March 2024 after clashing with Jewish co-founder, Ben Shapiro, over her antisemitic remarks. She influences millions of followers and deflects criticism of her views that she is a victim of a "Zionist" smear campaign, while perpetuating antisemitic tropes.

Tucker Carlson: Isolationism Meets Antisemitism
Carlson, once Fox News’ top host, recently interviewed Senator Ted Cruz, and they hotly debated the Biblical view on Israel. The ‘debate’ went viral. Carlson accused Cruz of supporting "regime change" in Iran and implied Israel was dragging the U.S. into war, and that Israel of the Bible differs from Israel today!

Carlson has hosted some dubious antisemitic guests including Holocaust revisionist Darryl Cooper, Pastor Isaac from Bethlehem, who made false claims about the living conditions of Christians under Israeli control, and most recently, the Iranian President!

It is troubling that some, like Owens and Carlson, leverage their Christian identities to frame their critiques as moral stands against a supposed globalist agenda, often invoking Biblical language. However, their narratives contradict the evangelical movement’s traditional support for Israel, which sees the Jewish state as a fulfilment of Biblical prophecy.

A New Generation Brainwashed?

The question of whether antisemitism is brainwashing another generation against Israel is pressing. The post-October 7 landscape, amplified by social media, has seen a rapid spread of anti-Israel narratives that blur into antisemitism. X posts from July 2025 reflect this shift turning anti-Israel sentiment into overt Jew-hatred.

Marxism has marched through the halls of schools and universities for decades under the guise of “academic truth.” Yet many rally participants don't even know which river and sea they're shouting about, or where to find them on a map.

But Marxism is not the only ideology trying to sway young audiences. Old lies and age-old prejudices are being re-packaged to sound rational and are now influencing conservative and Christian young people.

Historically, antisemitism has adapted to cultural contexts, from medieval blood libels to 20th-century Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Today’s conspiracies—whether about Mossad, AIPAC, or "Zionist" control—resonate with a generation sceptical of institutions and susceptible to online echo chambers. Jews are seen as manipulative elites, or Israel is a global villain. The mainstreaming of these ideas by figures with millions of followers risks normalizing antisemitism, particularly among conservatives who once staunchly supported Israel.

Turning Point USA had some disturbing moments in its July 2025 conference, including a speech by Tucker Carlson, of a changed narrative toward Israel. The many young people attending are not the University brainwashed Marxists, but conservative Bible loving young people. Without correction, such a shift threatens to erode traditional alliances and mislead a new generation.

The holocaust did not start with the concentration camps. Every day we find more and more eerie reflections akin to the 1930’s. The escalation of antisemitism demands urgent attention—from governments, but especially the true church.

What can we do about it?

Scripture warns a day will come when all nations turn their backs on Israel. And God will judge the nations who abandon Israel and seek to divide the land. God will judge, and is judging, nations based upon their treatment of Israel. Where will you stand on that day? What must we do to ensure the Lord is pleased with us?
